Mature trees on a porposed construction site can be either a boon or bane.

Large trees and mature stands of trees can add immediate landscape value to the buildings, parking lots, entryways and other aspects of the property. If protected they can also provide instant benefits to both the site and the neighboring community.

But sizeable trees can also present potential hazards if they house dangerous defects, are prone to storm damage, sensitive to construction damage, over mature or even possess undesirable characteristeics such as seeds, leaves, twigs, etc.

By analyzing the site before construction, and better yet during plan development, future problems can be avoided for the client, developer and contractors. Plus the benefits of the preserved trees can be maximized.

Too many times, a consultant is brought in after damage has been done or plans finalized. Although there are many corrective procedures that may be utilized, more often than not, it is too late and simple procedures put in to play during the initial stages could have prevented damage, increased property values and maximized benefits.
